The Emory University track and field programs competed at the South Carolina Invite on Friday afternoon with graduate students
Eva Carchidi and
Dawit Dean breaking program records in the 200m dash and 600m dash respectively.
Carchidi took home a first place finish in the 200m dash running a 24.77 followed by a fourth place finish in the event from senior
Audrey Johnson with a time of 25.54. Also taking a top-10 finish was senior
Kaya Binetti who took eighth in the 60m dash prelims (7.82) before later finishing sixth in the finals (7.82).
Teammates
Rowan Miller (2:15.66) and
Hannah Riley (2:26.96) both competed in the 800m run finishing first and fifth respectively in the event followed by a fourth place run from senior
Dashiel Tao Harris in the 400m dash with a time of 58.87. Senior
Paige Murdock finished in the top spot in the 600m dash running a 1:42.59 while junior
Payton Sullivan followed right behind with a time of 1:44.81.
Three more Eagles, senior
Liesl Scherrer (10:05.16, 1
st), freshman
Ashlyn Pallotta (10:18.52, 3
rd), and freshman
Davis Johnson (10:31.94, 5
th), all competed in the 3000m run. Rounding out the individual events was senior
Madison Tiaffay who took first in the mile (5:04.05) while sophomore
Payton Fleming took fourth (5:11.30).
Riley had the best finish in field events for the Emory women taking first in pole vault with a height of 3.53m. Teammates
Erin Makhanian (3.38m) and
Emerson Sobich (3.23m) finished third and fourth respectively. Graduate student
Nikki Boon jumped right back into things taking fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.55m while freshman
Jeanette Hydukovich finished fifth in the shot put (11.92m). Finishing the field events was Johnson who took sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.09m.
Dean led things off on the track for the men taking first in the 600m run with a time of 1:20.70 followed by a fifth place finish in the 800m run by freshman
Ryan McGonigle (1:54.91). Also competing in distance events was graduate students
Spencer Watry (4:09.91) and
Ethan Thompson (4:20.31) in the mile finishing second and fifth respectively.

th) all competed in the 5000m run while freshman

Starting things in field events was junior
Henry Brandstadter who took first in the long jump with a distance of 7.39m and fifth in the high jump with a distance of 1.92m. Senior
Geoff Point-du-Jour also competed in the high jump with a distance of 1.92m followed by a second place finish in the pole vault from junior
Steven Ditelberg with a height of 4.33m.
Rounding out the competition on the field was freshman
Sam Gouvalaris in the triple jump (13.78m, 7
th) and sophomore
Rohan Vasandani in the shot put (12.00m, 9
th).
The Emory women had two DMR groups compete with the group of freshman
Avery McAdams, senior
Paige Murdock and sophomores
Elise Picard and
Elizabeth Csikai taking second with a time of 12:39.27. The group of freshmen
Sophia Powell and
Arden Gray, junior
Karsten Bobb and senior
Samantha Glass who took third with a time of 13:23.31.
In the 4x400m relay, the group of Johnson, Miller, Carchidi and Boon finished second running a 3:55.30 followed by a third place finish from freshman
Sophia Deeney, Binetti, Tiaffay and Riley with a time of 4:04.10.
For the men, the DMR group of sophomores
Kirin Karver and
Sebastian Kou and seniors
Chris Belz and
Jonathan Orelowitz finished first with a time of 10:35.66 followed by a second place finish from the group of freshman
Carsen Valenta, junior
Jason Huang and seniors
Justin Whitney and
Turner Goetsch running a 10:45.94. In the 4x400m, the group of Dean, McGonigle, Watry and sophomore
Jayden Bai finished fifth with a time of 3:23.16.
The Eagles will send a few throwers to the Tiger Indoor Open at Sewanee University in Mount Laurel, Tennessee on Saturday, February 1.
