The Emory University track & field teams traveled to Rock Island, Illinois to compete in the final meet before qualifiers are announced for the 2026 Outdoor Championships. On Wednesday night. five Eagles were in action as the Midwest Twilight Qualifier got started at Augustana University.
Emory was highlighted by a pair of season-best performances in the 1500m Run and 3000m Steeplechase as sophomore Ryan Van de Berghe and junior Cameron Gupta claimed first place finishes in both of their events. In the men's 1500m, Van de Berghe went sub-3:50 for a winning time of 3:49.49 in the field of 25 runners. His time is a new personal-best, as well as the third-fastest in Emory history, and moves him to No. 25 on the Division III standings. For Gupta, she turned in the second-fastest time in Emory history in the steeplechase with her winning mark of 10:37.02 and climbed to No. 13 on the DIII leaderboard.
Elsewhere on the track, sophomore Ryan McGonigle was third out of 23 runners in the 800m at 1:51.02 and sophomore Davis Johnson placed 8th in the steeplechase at 10:56.79.
In the women's hammer throw, freshman Caroline Henry opened the evening by taking fifth place out of 20 competitors with a distance of 49.78m
The Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier at Augustana will continue Thursday afternoon with the first event for the Eagles getting underway with Megan Taylor in the long jump at 1:00 PM ET.
