The No. 3 ranked Emory men's golf team began play at the Gate City Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina on Monday. The Eagles played one full round with the second leg of the day being cut short due to darkness. After nearly two rounds of play, the Eagles stand fifth out of 18 teams at the event with a score of 540 (-10).

No. 7 ranked Washington & Lee sits in first after the first day, shooting a 542 (-18) on Monday. Rounding out the top-three are No. 1 ranked Methodist in second-place at 532 (-16) and No. 4 ranked Oglethorpe in third at 549 (-13). The event was held at Forest Oaks Country Club's Par-72 course.

The top performer for the Eagles was senior Michael Burry, sitting five strokes under-par after 34 holes. He recorded a 69 (-3) in his opening round while having shot a 61 (-2) before his second round was cut short. His opening round was clinical, shooting 15 pars and three birdies. His second round saw him knock in three more birdies and tally just one bogey. Through 34 holes, Burry has recorded 27 pars, six birdies, and just one bogey. After a strong opening two rounds, he'll head into the final day tied for seventh place with a 130 (-5) and three strokes off the leader.

Next up was freshman Zach Pelzar, who was competing in his first career stroke-play event for the Eagles. He was strong in his opening round, tying Burry's score with a 69 (-3) of his own before recording a 65 (E) through 16 holes in his second round. In his opening round, he knocked in three birdies and two bogeys before turning in an eagle on the 18th to boost his score. In his following round, the rookie recorded three birdies and as many bogeys through 16 holes to remain even. He'll enter the final day on Tuesday tied for 18th place with a 134 (-3) and five strokes off the leader.

Junior Brian Hanson had a solid day, shooting a 134 (-1) through 34 holes. He opened his day with a 71 (-1) before shooting a 63 (E) through 16 holes of his second round. His opening round was relatively consistent, knocking in three birdies and two bogeys to go with 13 pars. It was much of the same in his second round, turning in four birdies and two bogeys. However, a double bogey on his final hole of the day elevated his score to even. He enters the final day seven strokes off the leader with 20 holes to play and tied for 26th place.

Sophomore Brady Lagendyk shot a 140 (-1) through 35 holes, carding an even 72 in his opening round before turning in a 68 (-1) through 17 holes in his next round. He was consistent in his opening round, with three birdies and as many bogeys. Lagendyk experienced a more volatile second round, owning five birdies a pair of bogeys and a double bogey. Yet, he finds himself tied with Hanson in 26th place with 19 holes to play tomorrow.

Senior Tony Li rounds out the scores from Monday, shooting a 141 (+2) after completing 35 holes. He shot a 74 (+2) in his opening round before sitting at a 67 (E) with just one hole remaining in his second round. He struggled in his opening round, with five bogeys to go along with three birdies. Li fell victim to a couple of holes in his second round, having only two holes over par. He finished with one birdie and an eagle, but a double bogey and a bogey kept his score at even.

The final day is set to get started at 8:30 AM with a shotgun start, seeing players finish their second round before starting their third and final round.
