The Emory University men's track and field program opened the first day of the UAA Championships and saw three individuals and one relay group earn All-UAA honors.

After day one of competition, the Emory men sit in third place with 49 points while three individual Eagles earned All-UAA honors with their top-three finishes. The men's 4x800 relay group also took home All-UAA status with their third place finish.

Starting things off on the field for the men was senior Kenya Sei who took home a first place finish and earned All-UAA status in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.00m. Freshman Tyler Edwards also scored points for the Eagles in the event with a seventh place finish (43.29m).

Sophomore Henry Brandstadter also took home a first place title in the long jump with a mark of 7.14m. Graduate student Aiden Gilbert (6.90m) and freshman Isaac Smith (6.46m) also had scoring finishes taking fourth and eighth respectively. Sophomore Steven Ditelberg finished the scoring for the men on the field with a sixth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.54m.

The Eagles saw a number of qualifying performances on the track with junior Sam Ryba  and Brandstadter taking first and second respectively in the 100m prelims. Freshman Jayden Bai followed that with a fifth place finish in the 110m hurdles running a 15.48 and a 57.51 in the 400m hurdles to qualify for the finals on Sunday. Junior Jackson Price (21.55, 1^st) and Ryba (22.06, 7^th) also saw qualifying times in the 200m prelims.

The 400m prelims proved to be the biggest event for the Eagles with four top-eight times from freshman Theodore Drye (48.71, 1^st), sophomore Bryce Wurster (49.38, 4^th), Gilbert (49.81, 6^th) and freshman Graham Greene (50.70, 8^th).

Also scoring points for the Eagles on the track was senior Dawit Dean (1:51.54, 1^st), senior Spencer Watry (1:51.82, 2^nd) and junior Marcus Cheema (1:52.35, 5^th) in the 800m. Junior Jonathan Orelowitz (9:23.71, 4^th) and senior Grant Thompson (9:40.41, 8^th) helped the Eagles earn points in the 3000m steeplechase.

The last solo Eagle to earn All-UAA status on the day was graduate student Ethan Thompson who finished third in the 10000m running a 31:33.47.

The 4x800m relay group of senior Scott Masterson, junior Chris Belz, sophomore Nikhil Makker and freshman Andrew Burchett took home third place with a time of 7:44.57.

The Eagles will conclude competition at the UAA Championships on Sunday with the first event slated to begin at 10:00 AM.
