Track and Field Finishes Competition at Georgia Tech Invitational

The Emory University track and field program finished the second day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Starting things off on the track for the women was the 4x100 relay group of graduate student Nikki Boon and juniors Dashiel Tao Harris, Kaya Binetti and Audrey Johnson. The group finished eighth in the event with a time of 46.64. Freshman Audrey Callahan also had an impressive day with the best finish of Division III competitors in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.13.

Other competitors for the women included junior Sammie Glass in the 400m (58th, 59.85) and sophomore Payton Sullivan in the 800m (36th, 2:17.62). Junior Madison Tiaffay had an impressive day in the 800m taking 20th out of 93 athletes with a time of 2:13.74. Finishing things for the Eagles was junior Andrea MchPherson who ran a 26.82 in the 200m to finish fourth in her heat.

Junior Caroline Hansen was the lone competitor for the women on the field taking a 22nd place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best distance of 11.44m.

The men started out in the 400m with sophomores Walker Liu (56th, 51.14) and Gunn Bush (62nd, 51.85) and freshman Jack Tsai (49th, 51.40) all seeing action. Junior Chris Belz also competed on the track for the men taking 33rd in the 800m with a time of 1:54.77 followed by a 1:56.54 time from junior Patrick Latting.

Also finishing in the 800m was freshman Andrew Burchett (53rd, 1:56.65), juniors Turner Goetsch (60th, 1:56.94) and Ben Zamler (69th, 1:58.59) and sophomore Evan Malinow (82nd, 2:00.33).

Finishing things for the men was the 200m where junior Jackson Price led the way with a 15th place finish with a time of 21.68. Sophomore Henry Brandstadter finished just outside of the top-30 taking 31st with a mark of 22.04. Also in the 200m for the Eagles was graduate student Aiden Gilbert (49th, 22.62), freshman Theodore Drye (51st, 22.65) and junior Caleb Bunch (60th, 23.03).

Next up for the Eagles is the UAA Championships beginning Saturday, April 27 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
