Eagles Shine at KSU Invitational Friday Afternoon

The Emory University outdoor track and field program competed at the Kennesaw State Invitational on Friday afternoon competing against athletes from each division.

The women's program saw two top Division III times on the day in the 200m and the 400m.

Leading the women on the field was graduate student Nikki Boon who continues to shine in her first season with the Eagles. She finished third in the javelin with a distance of 37.56m ranking 22nd in Division III. In the triple jump, juniors Audrey Johnson (11.11m) and Caroline Hansen (10.98m) and freshman Linda Wang (10.36m) finished in the top 10 with their sixth, seventh and ninth place finishes respectively.

Senior Paige Thielke also took home a top-10 finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m followed by a ninth place finish in the pole vault from sophomore Sammy Ramacher (2.85m). Wang rounded out the field competition with a 5.13 mark in the long jump good for a 10th place finish.

On the track for the women was Johnson who finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 24.70, the best time in Division III this season. Following her was fellow junior Dashiel Tao Harris to finished fourth in the 400m running a 56.74, also the best time in the division this season.

Boon and senior Amaya Martin both saw top-10 finishes in the 100m hurdles finishing eighth and ninth respectively. Martin then took home sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.66. Senior Jenna Daly started things off in the distance events with a sixth place finish in the 800m running a 2:21.18 followed by a 2:24.70 from senior Lucy Hansen for a ninth place finish. Freshman Emma Flowers finished things for the women taking third in the 5000m with a time of 19:37.62.

Starting on the field for the men was sophomore Henry Brandstadter who finished in a tie for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.93m while junior Geoff Point-du-Jour finished eighth in the event (1.88m). Sophomore Steven Ditelberg saw a seventh place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.43m followed by a 10th place finish from freshman Evan Tuckley in the event (4.28m).

In the long jump, graduate student Aiden Gilbert and Brandstadter both recorded a mark of 6.63m to finish eighth and ninth respectively. Rounding out things for the men was sophomore Simon Stumbris who finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 14.02m ranking sixth best in Division III this season.

On the track for the men was junior Jackson Price who finished second in the 200m with a time of 21.66 which ranks 17th in Division III this season. Fellow junior Sam Ryba also competed in the event finishing sixth running a 21.98. The Eagles saw top-10 finishes in the 400m from senior Dawit Dean (48.27, 6th) and freshman Theodore Drye (48.59, 10th). In the 400m hurdles, freshmen Jayden Bai and Graham Greene took home eighth and ninth with times of 56.84 and 57.20 respectively.

In distance events, junior Ben Zamler finished eighth in the 800m running a 1:56.50 followed by a ninth place finish from junior Haden Fulkerson in the 1500m. The Eagles saw three top-five finishes in the 5000m from freshman Ezra Shilling Rabin (15:45.01), sophomore Lucas Moskovitz (15:56.74) and sophomore Matthew McClure (15:59.53).

The 4x100 relay team of Ryba, Gilbert, Brandstadter and Price finished third in the event running a 41.59 which ranks fifth in the division this season.

The Eagles will continue the outdoor season on Friday, April 5 with day one of the Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee.
