The Emory University men's indoor track and field team turned in a second place finish at the UAA Indoor Championships in New York, New York registering eight All-UAA performances on Sunday.
With their 137 points across 16 events, the Eagles took silver at the meet finishing behind the Carnegie Mellon Tartans who collected 177 points throughout the event. Chicago took home third with 126.5 points. On top of their 11 All-UAA performances this weekend, the Eagles also finished the meet with eight individual UAA titles including five on Sunday.
Senior Spencer Watry started the day for the Eagles taking a first place finish in the mile recording a time of 4:11.70. Junior Marcus Cheema also earned an All-UAA nod in the event with his second place finish running a 4:12.33.
Freshman Graham Greene put an exclamation point on his rookie season earning All-UAA honors with a first place finish in the 400m with a mark of 48.36 seconds. Junior Sam Ryba followed with another UAA title running a 6.99 in the 60m dash. Teammate Jackson Price followed on his heels taking a second place All-UAA finish running a 7.04.
Competing on the track on Sunday was sophomore Henry Brandstadter who finished second in the 200m to earn an All-UAA nod finishing with a time of 22.20 seconds.
Dean and Greene also competed in the 4x400m relay alongside freshman Theodore Drye and sophomore Bryce Wurster setting the new UAA indoor record taking first in the event with a time of 3:17.46.
On the field for the men, sophomore Simon Stumbris earned his second All-UAA indoor honor and his first UAA title taking a first place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.18m.
Other scorers for the Eagles included sophomore Jason Huang and freshman Jayden Bai who took fifth and eighth in the 60m hurdles respectively. Drye finished just outside of All-UAA honors taking fourth in the 400m running a 49.65 while Wurster took eighth in the event with a 50.01 run. Senior Kenya Sei also saw a seventh place finish in the shot put with a distance of 12.91m.
Dean and Cheema both earned points in the 800m taking fourth and seventh with times of 1:52.42 and 1:57.91 respectively. Ryba finished just outside of All-UAA ranks with a fourth place finish in the 200m finishing with a time of 22.45 seconds. Rounding out the individual events was junior Tristan Olpin taking an eighth place finish in the 3000m with a 8:30.48 mark.
The Eagles will compete in one final regular season meet this upcoming weekend at the Tufts Final Qualifier in Boston as the Emory athletes get one last chance to qualify for the national meet.
