The Emory University men's swimming & diving team put the finishing touches on another University Athletic Association championship on Saturday as the Eagles won their 25th consecutive conference crown.
The Eagles continued their dominant week with two more event championships on the final night to go along with five All-UAA performances. All told, Emory captured seven UAA championships, recorded 17 All-UAA finishes, established two UAA meet records and saw one school record fall.
At the conclusion of four days in Chicago, Emory compiled 1,711 points as a team – 280 points more than New York University, which finished second at 1,431 points. The host Maroons came in third at 1348.5 points and Carnegie Mellon was fourth at 1,202.
Seniors Nicholas Goudie and Jake Meyer added to their outstanding weeks on Saturday as both swimmers earned more UAA gold. In the 100 Freestyle, Goudie won his second straight title in the event as he out-touched Chicago's Sebi Vernhes by .09 seconds, giving him the 100 and 200 Freestyle sweep. In the 200 Breaststroke, Meyer completed the Breaststroke sweep as he won by two seconds over teammate Liyang Sun. Goudie touched at 44.23 and Meyer turned in a 1:56.54.
Senior Alex York led off the night with his second All-UAA showing, this time on the 1-meter board as he scored 478.30 points in the finals. Freshman McKee Thorsen recorded the Eagles' other All-UAA finish on the night as he came in third in the 200 Fly at 1:47.58.
Freshman Graham Zucker was Emory's top finisher in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:46.99 as the Eagles took the fifth through eighth positions in the A final. Junior Alexander Pollack was sixth at 1:47.23, junior Adam Braunschweig took seventh at 1:47.77 and sophomore Will Kohn was eighth at 1:50.18.
Sophomores Caden Bjornstad and Henri Bonnault each posted fifth place finishes in their respective events, with Bjornstad going for 45.46 in the 100 Free and Bonnault clocking a 2:01.27 in the 200 Breaststroke. Friday's standout, Crow Thorsen, finished sixth in the 200 Fly and junior Zachary Zhao was the B final winner in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:01.86.
The night concluded with the group of Goudie, Bjornstad, C. Thorsen and junior Johnny Bradshaw placing fourth in the A final of the 400 Freestyle Relay at 2:58.51.
