The Emory University swimming and diving team sent a group of divers to Cambridge, Massachusetts to compete in the MIT Winter Invite this weekend. The Eagles competed in the first day of diving events on Saturday, with the men competing on the 1-meter board and the women on the 3-meter board. Freshman
Solly Berkenwald highlighted the day for the divers, taking first of five divers in the men's 1-meter event. The event was held at MIT's Zesiger Center Pool.
Berkenwald earned a score of 514.20 in the finals, besting Tufts' Cameron Yuen who finished second with a score of 494.50. He was the lone Eagle to compete in the finals.
The women sent five to the finals of the 3-meter, with senior
Ariana Khan being the top finisher, coming in fourth of 14 divers with a score of 459.90. MIT's Fiora Beratahani won the event with a score of 502.60. Finishing close behind Khan was freshman
Maya Kriz in fifth with a 457.95 and junior
Ren Watt in sixth with a 448.45.
Rounding out the scores for the women on the 3-meter board were freshmen
Jacqueline St. Clair, who finished eighth with a score of 438.65, and
Maddi Grant, who finished 11
th with a score of 425.70.
The divers will conclude competing at the MIT Winter Invite tomorrow with the women competing on the 1-meter board and the men on the 3-meter. Both will start at 12:30 PM at the Zesiger Center Pool.
