The Emory University men's swimming and diving team concluded the hosting of the Emory Fall Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finished first out of four teams at the event due in part to nine event wins and 10 NCAA B Cuts during the second session.
Emory got things going early with a strong start in the 200 Medley, taking the top two spots with NCAA qualifying times. The team of seniors
Adam Braunschweig,
Jeff Echols, Liyang Sun, and
Dylan Yin took the top spot with a time of 1:28.57. All four went on to earn individual event wins as well on Saturday.
Yin earned his win in the 50 Free, posting a time of 20.47.
Braunschweig had an individual event win of his own, winning the 100 Back with a time of 48.89, which was good for an NCAA B Cut. Freshman
Zachary Spicer was right behind, earning a B Cut with a time of 49.08 in the 100 Back and in second place.
Sun took home a win in the 200 Breast, posting a B Cut worthy time, touching at 1:57.82. Echols rounded out the wins for the relay team, winning the 100 Fly with an NCAA qualifying time of 47.77.
Sophomore
Hayden Tupper earned an event win when he clocked in at 1:39.28 in the 200 Free. Senior
Crow Thorsen finishes off the individual event wins, touching first in the 400 IM with an NCAA B Cut time of 3:53.55.
The Eagles closed the day with a win in the 400 Free Relay with an NCAA B Cut time of 2:59.33. Thorsen and Yin were joined by freshman
Colin Zexter and
Caden Bjornstad.
Freshman
Solly Berkenwald competed on the boards for Emory, winning the 1-meter with a score of 320.95.
Emory will take the next few weeks off before heading to Granville, Ohio to compete in the Denison Invitational. The Denison Invitational will start on Thursday, December 5
th and conclude Saturday, December 7
th. Meanwhile, the divers will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts for the MIT Invitational, an event that will start on Friday, December 6
th and conclude Sunday, December 8
th.
