The Emory University swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday and Sunday with several swimmers advancing to the finals of their respective events. The Eagles were one of five schools represented at the meet, swimming alongside contingents from host Georgia Tech, Michigan, Florida State and Auburn.
On Saturday, the Eagles sent 11 swimmers into the finals before seeing eight move into the finals session on Sunday.
Day two featured junior
Avery Sammons (14th, 1:05.16) and sophomore
Sammy McClintock (16th, 1:07.03) lead the way in the 100 Breast while junior
Isabel Huang highlighted four Eagles in the 100 Backstroke, taking 23rd at 56.21. Huang was the lone Eagle to record a NCAA B Cut on Saturday, in either prelims or finals, doing so with a 56.68 in the morning of the 100 Back.
For the men, senior
Yubo Jin led two Eagles in the finals of the 100 Breaststroke, taking 21st with a time of 55.89, and in the 100 Backstroke junior
Gary Wang paced three Eagles in the 19-20-21 spots with his time of 51.65.
Moving into Sunday, Huang was another top finisher for the Blue and Gold as she placed 26th in the 200 Backstroke. In the 200 Breaststroke, Sammons (14th, 2:25.40) and Folk (15th, 2:27.13) came through with leading team times and in the 200 Fly, Friday's standout
Pooja Hemige, finished 20th at 2:09.09.
For the men, sophomore
Harry Kerscher finished 24th in the 200 Backstroke (1:52.57) and freshman
Andrew Delzer was 23rd in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:08.73.Â
Additionally, freshman
Ryley Yoo was 27th in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:54.37 and senior
Davis Shelton recorded a time of 16:07.76 to take 21st in the mile.
The Eagles look to close out the calendar year as they'll send groups to Denison and MIT for three-day invitationals from December 5-8th.
