The Emory University women's cross country team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA National Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles finished second at the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday, positioning themselves to earn a selection to the national meet.
Emory saw six different runners earn All-Region status with
Brigid Hanley,
Liesl Scherrer,
Madison Tiaffay, Ashlyn Pallotta, Davis Johnson, and
Cameron Gupta all finishing in the top-35 of all runners at the event. Hanley, Scherrer, and Tiaffay were all among top-10 finishers at the event.
This marks the 19
th consecutive year that the Eagles earned a bid to the NCAA Championships. The Eagles had success at the event last year, finishing 8
th overall to post their second-best finish at the NCAA Championship Meet in program history. The Eagles return all but one runner from last year's NCAA Championship lineup. Hanley also made a bit of history last year, finishing eighth overall to record the third-best finish at the NCAA Championships in program history.
With the ticket in hand, Emory will now travel to Terra Haute, Indiana to compete in the national meet. The meet is being held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course and hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, beginning at 11 A.M. on Saturday, November 23
