Emory University cross country head coach Linh Nguyen was recognized Tuesday evening with his selection as the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaching Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Women's Coach of the Year.
Nguyen, in his seventh year as head coach at Emory, led the Eagles to the team title at the South Region Championships with 42 points and later finished 18th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Earlier in the season, Emory finished fifth in the UAA Championships with 122 points.
The women's team saw seven All-Region performers with top 20 finishes, led by senior Madison Tiaffay. She narrowly missed All-UAA honors as well at the end of October, taking 15th at the UAA Championships as Emory's top finisher.
Nguyen and his Eagles now turn their attention to the track & field season which will get underway Friday, December 4th with the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker in Birmingham, Alabama.
