The Emory University swimming & diving programs are competing in various events scattered across the country this weekend, with some of the program's top swimmers heading to the Denison Invitational. The Eagles concluded the second day of the event on Friday with the men's team in first with 1187 points and the women's team in third with 988.5 points.

Highlighting the day for the Eagles was senior Jake Meyer, who touched first in the 100 Breaststroke with a dazzling time of 52.69. The time was also good for an NCAA A Cut and a new career best. Meyer was the only Eagle to record an A Cut on Friday.

Also picking up an individual first-place finish was senior Ryan Soh, who came out on top in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 48.18. The time qualified as an NCAA B Cut.

Cumulatively, the men picked up nine B Cuts and one A Cut on Friday in individual events.

Joining Soh in recording B Cuts were junior Zachary Zhao (4^th, 3:56.44) and Ryan Gibbons (10^th, 3:57.84) in the 400 IM, junior Jeff Echols (3^rd, 48.26) and freshman McKee Thorsen (5^th, 48.69) in the 100 Butterfly, senior Harrison Pire (2^nd, 1:38.66) in the 200 Freestyle, sophomore Henri Bonnault (2^nd, 53.69) and junior Liyang Sun (6^th, 54.54) in the 100 Breaststroke, and junior Adam Braunschweig (3^rd, 48.55) in the 100 Backstroke.

The women's team also picked up their share of B Cuts, tallying six in individual events on Friday.

Four of such marks came in the 100 Backstroke event, with three Eagles finishing in the top-five and another coming in 10^th. Sophomore Isabel Huang led the way in the event, coming in third with a time of 55.65 and exactly one second off the winner. Rounding out the performances in the event were sophomore Penny Celtnieks (4^th, 55.69), sophomore Jane Sanderson (5^th, 55.90), and senior Megan Jungers (10^th, 56.45).

Other individual B Cut performances included freshman Katie Cohen's fourth-place performance in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.36) and senior Penelope Helm's second-place performance in the 200 Freestyle (1:50.60).

On the relay side, the Eagles picked up six B Cut performances, with the men and women picking up three apiece.

The men's 200 Medley team comprised of Soh, Meyer, Echols, and sophomore Caden Bjornstad finished second with a time of 1:25.95. Close behind was another team of Eagles, with Braunschweig, Bonnault, junior Crow Thorsen, and freshman Graham Zucker finishing in fifth with a time of 1:29.73.

The 800 Freestyle relay team made up of Zucker, Pire, junior Alex Pollack, and freshman Hayden Tupper finished third with a time of 6:39.57.

The women's 200 Medley team made up of Jungers, Cohen, Sanderson, and freshman Maren McDonald finished third with a time of 1:42.42. Their teammates Huang, Celtnieks, junior Rose Gaudiani, and junior Ali Kaiser finished fifth with a time of 1:44.00. The Eagles finished third in the 800 Freestyle relay, with freshman Meredith Teague, freshman Katie Swan, Huang, and Helm clocking in at 7:31.38.

The final day of the Denison Invitational will start tomorrow at 10:00 AM with prelims and conclude at 6:00 PM with the finals.
