The Emory men's tennis team closed out a three-match swing in Texas with an impressive Sunday afternoon victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The top-ranked Eagles raised their overall record to 10-4 following a 7-2 decision over the No. 2-ranked Stags who fell to 16-2.
CMS jumped out to a 1-0 advantage after a win at third doubles, however Emory rebounded to win the next two encounters to take the lead that it never surrendered. Sophomore Adrien Bouchet and junior Max Renke evened the score with their 8-5 triumph against Nikolai Parodi and Jay Yeam at the No. 2 spot, upping their spring mark to 8-4. At first doubles, junior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding came away with an 8-5 outcome over Julian Gordy and Daniel Morkovine, raising their dual record to 8-6.
The Eagles continued the momentum into singles, winning five of the six battles. Sophomore Adrien Bouchet boosted Emory's advantage to 3-1 after topping Patrick Wildman, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3. At No. 6, senior Josh Goodman won for the ninth time in 12 outings this spring with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Alex Brenner. Senior Aman Manji sealed the win for Emory with his triumph at the No. 1 post against Parodi, 6-3, 6-3, improving his spring slate to 10-4 (19-5 overall). Other Emory singles winners included sophomore Jonathan Jemison at No. 2 against Daniel Morkovine, 6-2, 6-1, and Spaulding at No. 4 vs. Daniel Park, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).
Emory returns to action on Tuesday, April 11, when it plays at Sewanee.
