The No. 5-ranked Emory men's tennis team defeated the University of Chicago in the finals of the ITA National Indoor Championship in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday.  The Eagles raised their spring record to 4-2 following a 7-2 triumph over the No. 4 Maroons who fell to 7-1.   It is Emory's sixth ITA Indoor title in the 16-year history of the event

Emory built an early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles.  The No. 3 duo of sophomore David Omsky and freshman Andrew Harrington got things started with an 8-4 win over UC's team of Michael Selin and Luke Tsai.  It was Omsky's and Harrington's fourth dual win in as many outings this spring.  The Eagles' No. 1 team of sophomore Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding notched the second point while senior Rafe Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison came away with an 8-5 verdict over Peter Leung and Charlie Pei at No. 2.

After UC picked up its first point at No. 5 singles, freshman Adrien Bouchet's 6-4, 6-4, win over Leung put Emory one point from clinching the crown.  Jemison provided the Eagles' with the decisive point at No. 2, besting Sven Kranz,, 6-4, 6-3, which upped his overall record to 14-2.  Junior Aman Manji and Mosetick captured decisions at Nos. 3 and 1, respectively, to close out the Emory winners.
