Emory Men's Tennis Captures UAA Title With Win Over Washington University

The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team rallied for the second straight day and in the process captured the University Athletic Association Championship, topping No. 5-ranked Washington University in the title match.  The Eagles raised their record to 16-6 following a 5-4 decision over the Bears who slipped to 18-5.

After dropping two of the three doubles points, Emory trailed by a 3-2 margin after the first two singles matches had been completed.  Senior Alex Ruderman knotted the match with a win at No. 1, raising his overall record to 19-8, while classmate Eric Halpern gave the Eagles a 4-3 edge with a victory at the No. 2 spot, upping his record on the year to 17-9.  Junior Rafe Mosetick clinched the match for Emory with a dramatic three-set win over Tyler Kratky that saw him stave off seven match points en route to forcing a tiebreaker.

The win enabled Emory to bring home its first conference crown since 2012 and represented the program's 24th overall in the 28-year history of UAA Championships.

The Eagles now wait until May 6 when they hear when and who they will play in the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Match scores from the Wash U match will be posted when they become available.
