The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team remained undefeated Thursday afternoon as it recorded an impressive victory over No. 4 Johns Hopkins University at the Woodruff PE Center. The Eagles ran their record to 12-0 after posting a 7-2 verdict over the Blue Jays who slipped to 3-3.
The Eagles emerged with a 2-1 lead after doubles with the No. 2 team of junior Eliiott Kahler and freshman Ian Wagner earning their 10th win in 11 outings at that spot while the tandem of senior Dillion Pottish and freshman Brian Kowalski picked up the Eagles' other win at the No. 3 post, battling to a 9-7 decision over Andy Hersh and Jeff Kamei.
Emory turned in a solid effort in singles action, bringing home victories in five of the six matches. Pottish, the No. 1-ranked singles player in the D-III ranks, notched a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over the No. 6-ranked Hersh, upping his spring slate to 11-1, while senior Chris Goodwin, playing in the No. 2 spot for the first time this spring, clawed his way to a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Tanner Brown. Kowalski, upped his overall ledger to 7-4 on the spring, with a straight-set verdict over Ben Hwang. Freshman Eric Halpern raised his spring record to 11-1 with a 6-4, 7-5 outcome at No. 4 with classmate Alex Ruderman (6-3, 6-1) rounding out the Emory singles winners.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 31, when they host No. 30 DePauw in a 3:00 p.m. start.
