No. 3 Emory Men's Tennis Tops No. 16 Chicago

The No. 3-ranked Emory men's tennis team captured its eighth straight match Friday  afternoon, as it defeated No. 16 Chicago at the Woodruff PE Center.  The Eagles raised their record to 16-2 following a 7-2 triumph over the Maroons who slipped to 11-3.

Emory got out of the blocks quickly and led, 3-0, after doubles.  The No. 1 team of Chris Goodwin and Will Humphreys boosted their record this spring to 14-4 following an 8-6 decision over Jan Stefanski and Zsolt Szabo.   Junior Dillon Pottish and senior Colin Egan came away with a decisive 8-1 verdict against Krishna Ravella and Harrison Abrams at No. 3, raising that duo's slate to 13-1.  Sophomore Noah Simonson and freshman Ayush Bajoria were also victorious at the No. 2 spot.

In singles, the Eagles' 1-through-3 spots were solid with all three players registering straight-set wins.  Pottish continued his stellar campaign with his 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Will Zhang at the No. 1 post increasing his overall mark to 27-1, 18-0 during the spring.  Goodwin's methodical 6-3, 6-2 win over Szabo at No. 2 enabled him to go to 16-2 this spring, while Egan churned to his 14th win in 15 tries at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Troy Brinker.  Emory's other singles win came by freshman Simon Lavoie-Perusse at No. 5.

Emory returns to action on Friday (April 1) when it plays on the first day of the Auburn-Montgomery Tournament.
