Emory Softball Claims First Game Of Twinbill vs. Covenant College

The No. 2-ranked Emory softball remained undefeated Thursday afternoon as it captured the first game of a doubleheader against Covenant College.  The Eagles boosted their record to 23-0 following a 9-2 decision over the Scots who slipped to 4-5.

Freshman designated hitter Megan Light continued her hot ways at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs.  Senior right fielder Brittany Boeshore contributed to the Eagles' 11-hit attack by collecting three safeties while knocking in one run.  Freshman pitcher Lena Brottman upped her record to 11-0, tossing a complete game that saw scatter six hits and fan three.

Light drove in her initial run in the first inning with a two-out single that scored freshman Claire Bailey.  Light had the big blow of a five-run second frame with a three-run triple that helped the Eagles extend their lead to 6-1.  Emory tacked on two more runs in the fifth on the strength of a two-run double by sophomore Ellyn Kocoloski that scored junior Jessica Thomas and Light.
