Box Score Emory sophomore Hannah Lilly pumped in a career-high 26 points to lead four double-figure scorers as the Eagles recorded a Tuesday evening win at the University of the South. Emory notched its fourth straight win and boosted its overall record to 4-1 following a 98-70 decision over the Tigers who slipped to 3-2.
Emory led from start to finish and ended the contest shooting 50.6 percent (44—of-87) from the floor with the 44 field goals tying the fourth-highest game total in school history. The Eagles held Sewanee to just 31.6 percent (25-of-79) from the field and harassed the Tigers into 21 turnovers. Emory also enjoyed a decided 64-40 edge on the glass with the 64 boards tying the third-highest game mark in school annals.
Lilly knocked down 12 of her 19 attempts from the floor, including two-of-four from three-point range, en route to her third career performance of 20 or more points. In addition, she doled out a career-high tying seven assists. Lilly had plenty help in the scoring department with junior Misha Jackson totaling 14 points along with a team-high nine rebounds and three steals. Senior Becca Feldman contributed 12 points and came through with a career-high eight rebounds in the victory. Rounding out the squad's double-figure scorers was sophomore Selena Castillo with 11 points on five-of-nine shooting from the field. Ten of the 12 players who saw action found their way into the scoring column while 11 grabbed rebounds.
Emory enjoyed a 21-11 advantage with 11:35 left in the opening half before racing off a 21-10 scoring run over a six-minute stretch to post a 42-21 lead. Seven different players scored for Emory during that spree with Castillo picking up five points and Feldman and junior Katie Dickerson contributing four points each. Sewanee scrapped back into the game, knocking down three treys as part of a 15-7 charge that cut the Eagles' advantage to 49-36 heading into halftime.
Emory scored eight of first 10 points in the second half to extend its lead to 19, 58-37. The Tigers stayed within striking distance and trailed by a 15-point margin before Emory put the game out of reach with a decisive 9-2 run that ballooned its lead to 76-54 with 8:48 left in the contest.
Emory returns to action on Friday (Dec. 2) when it plays at Spelman College in a 6:00 p.m., tip.
