The Emory men's golf team had a stellar showing on day one of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview, shooting a team total 557 (-11) over the first two rounds in Williamsburg, VA.
Huntingdon currently holds the lead at 543 (-25) while Kenyon is in second place with 551 (-17) and Illinois Wesleyan sits one stroke ahead of the Eagles in third place going into the final day at Kingsmill.
Zach Pelzar is leading the team in the individual standings at the end of day one as he is tied for 13th with a 138 on the day. Consistency was the name of the game for the junior as he delivered a 69 (-2) in both rounds on the day. He also shot a pair of Eagles which both came on the seventh hole along with shooting seven birdies and the same number of bogeys across 36 holes.
Behind him is newcomer
Jeffrey Rubenstein who sits one stroke behind Pelzar in a tie for 19th. Rubenstein had an incredible showing in the first round, recording six birdies and only two bogeys through 18 holes, but saw a shift in round two as he shot four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey to card a 72 (+1).

Enze Miao came right behind him, shooting a 141 (-1) to tie for 25th in his stroke play debut for the Eagles. The freshman had a rocky first round as he shot two bogeys on the front nine and four on the back nine to card a 72 (+1), but he had a more consistent second round as he made par on 14 of the 18 holes to card a 69.
Dru Devata is one stroke behind Miao going into day two as the sophomore carded a 71 in both of his rounds. The sophomore shot four birdies in each round along with six bogeys and a double bogey through 36 holes.
Rounding things out for the Eagles is senior
Kevin Mu who sits in a tie for 34th with a total of 143 (+1). The junior shot 74 (+3) in round one with three bogeys and a double bogey, but he improved by five strokes in round two as he recorded a pair of bogeys on the front nine and delivered a pair of birdies on the back nine with an Eagle on 15.
The Eagles will be back on the course tomorrow for the final round of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview, with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m.
