The Emory men's tennis team opened their season Friday afternoon as they began play at the Spartan Fall Invitational in Greensboro, NC.
The Eagles took on the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in singles to start the day, with each team picking up five wins a piece.
Emory's first win of the day came from freshman
Juno Pethe in his collegiate debut, taking down UNCA's Daniel Key 7-6 (7),
6-0. Sophomore
Daniel Kim followed that with a 7-6, 7-5 decision while junior
Sammy Nieder got the 6-2, 6-2 win on his court. After that, senior
Ryan Nash secured the 10-8 super set tiebreaker win and newcomer
Aadit Rishi secured the 6-2, 6-0 decision to earn his first win for the Blue and Gold.
In doubles, the Eagles took on host UNCG as each team earned two wins on the day. To start the competition, the duo of junior
Joshua Lai and graduate transfer
Mitchell Deames won 6-4 while the sophomore/freshman duo of Kim and Rishi secured the second doubles win, taking down UNCG 6-3.
The Eagles will be back on the court tomorrow as the Spartan Fall Invitational continues in Greensboro
