Women's Tennis Senior Trio Selected for NCAA Individual Championships

The Emory University women's tennis senior trio of Emily Kantrovitz, Izzy Antanavicius and Iris Berman are set to represent the Eagles at the NCAA Individual Championships May 22-25 at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee as announced by press release Wednesday night on NCAA.com.

Kantrovitz and Antanavicius are slated to be part of the 32-team singles field while Kantrovitz and Berman will be one of 16 doubles teams vying for the national title. Additionally, Antanavicius and junior Yanire Marte were named as third alternates for the doubles tournament.

Kantrovitz will make her fourth consecutive appearance in the singles draw and will be looking to follow her semifinal berth last spring. This year, the All-UAA First Team selection is 17-6 in singles including a 4-4 mark in tournament play where she advanced to the finals of the ITA South Regional at the end of September.

For Antanavicius, she will make her second straight appearance in the singles field after advancing to the national quarterfinals last year. This year, the All-UAA First Teamer has put together a 22-5 record in singles action including an impressive 8-2 mark in tournament matches. In the fall, Antanavicius topped Kantrovitz in the finals of the ITA South Regional and later advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup.

In doubles, Kantrovitz and Berman will look to make a run after going 18-10 during the season including a 7-2 mark in tournament matches. The duo secured All-UAA acclaim earlier on Wednesday and became the latest Emory tandem to win the ITA South Regional this past fall. They would go on to advance to the national semifinals of the ITA Cup in October.

Prior to the NCAA Individual Championships, the Eagles will begin their team run this weekend as Emory plays regional host for the opening rounds May 8-10 in Atlanta.
