The No. 5 ranked Emory University women's team handed No. 15 Washington & Lee University its first loss of the season Saturday morning as the Eagles blanked the Generals, 7-0, on the outdoor courts of the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Emory bounced back into the win column in a big way on Saturday as the team claimed wins in eight of the nine matches contested to improve to 7-4 overall while dropping W&L to 11-1 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles secured the afternoon's first point with wins on courts two and three. At the second position, senior Izzy Antanavicius and junior Yanire Marte were tested with a tiebreaker but came through with the 7-6 (3) result and on court three, sophomore Rachel Hernandez and freshman Holyn Karp posted a 6-4 decision.

As the match moved into singles, Emory closed out the match in strong fashion with wins on all six courts including five via straight sets.

Dominating wins came from the bottom of the lineup with Hernandez (6-0, 6-1) and Karp (6-0, 6-2) registering wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions while doubles duo Emily Kantrovitz and Iris Berman reached the win column at the top two positions with Kantrovitz going 6-3, 6-3 on the top line and Berman turning in a 6-1, 6-2 result.

The final two wins came from doubles tandem Antanavicius and Marte at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots in the lineup. Antanavicius notched a 6-3, 6-4 win on court three while Marte was pushed to three sets but finalized a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 to close out the shutout.

The Eagles will be back at home Monday afternoon with a match against Colby College starting at 1:00 PM from the WoodPEC.
