The Emory University men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip to Orlando Thursday afternoon, competing to a 5-2 result against Division II's No. 1 ranked squad Barry University.
The Eagles began the afternoon with upset on their mind by claiming the doubles point with victories at both the No. 1 and No. 3 spots in the lineup. Sophomore combination Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik sent down their opponents with a 6-1 verdict at the top position and at court three, freshmen duo Daniel Kim and Matthew Johnstone added the 6-4 decision to clinch the opening point.
In singles, the Buccaneers flipped the switch by taking five of the six matches to hand Emory its fifth defeat of the spring. The Eagles' lone win came at the No. 1 position however as Kim rallied for 1-6, 7-5, 10-7Â decision.
Emory will return to DIII competition next weekend as the Eagles travel crosstown to take on Oglethorpe on March 20th.
