#6 Men's Tennis Edges Tennessee Wesleyan, 4-3, Monday Afternoon

The No. 6 ranked Emory University men's tennis team collected its second win in as many days as the Eagles defeated NAIA Tennessee Wesleyan, 4-3, on the indoor courts of the Woodruff PE Center Monday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Eagles knocked off their second straight non-DIII opponent as on Monday Emory took two out three doubles matches and was even across six singles matches to down the Bulldogs.

In doubles, the Eagles saw wins at the top two spots as sophomores Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik claimed a 6-1 result at the No. 1 position and at No. 2, senior Dean Kamenev and freshman Matthew Johnstone pulled off a tiebreaker win, 7-6 (6).

Leading 1-0, the Eagles secured wins at the first, second and fifth positions to clinch the win. All three Emory wins came via straight sets as Feng notched a 6-3, 6-2 line at first singles followed by Kamenev's 7-6 (6), 7-5 verdict at second singles. The final win for the Eagles came from Johnstone as he cruised for a 6-1, 6-2 decision.

Standing at 2-0, Emory will host Georgia Gwinnett in an indoor scrimmage on Tuesday starting at 2:30 PM before TWU returns to Atlanta next Wednesday, February 18th for a 2:00 PM start.
