In a dominant day one of the UAA Championships, men's golf went undefeated on the day with 4-2 wins against Rochester and Carnegie Mellon. These wins put the Eagles in first place heading into day two of the championships. Emory's most decisive individual wins of the day came from junior
Kevin Mu who won 4up against Rochester's Josh Pethel and grad transfer
Pearse Lucas who closed things out on 13 with a 7up win against Carnegie Mellon's Will Blankenship.
The first matchup of the day was senior
Brian Hanson against Rochester's Alvin Su. Su took the opening match 2up with one hole remaining, winning one of Rochester's two points of the match. That was followed with a tight 2up win from junior
Brady Lagendyk that went through 18 and a close 3&1 loss for freshman
Dru Devata against Hongrui (Ray) Su. The Eagles dominated the rest of the match with a pair of 2&1 wins from Lucas and sophomore
Zach Pelzar along with a 4up win from Mu who closed it out on 15.
The second matchup against Carnegie Mellon went similarly, with CMU's Ryan Dannegger winning the first match against Hanson 2up through 18. Devata then put the Eagles on the board with a 4&2 win against Jayadita Saluja, but the Tartans responded with a 2&1 win from CMU's Joshua Wang. Down 2-1, the Eagles responded and won the last three matchups, with Pelzar taking a 3&2 win against Jason Chan and Lucas earning Emory's largest margin of victory on the day, taking a 7&5 win against Will Blankenship. Mu closed out the match for the Eagles with a 3&2 win over CMU's David Zhang.
