Members of the Emory University men's basketball team were spotlighted Thursday afternoon for the academic excellence as the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) released its Academic Excellence and Honors Court award recipients.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2024-25Â academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25Â year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
As a team, the Eagles shined with a collective 3.63 grade point average during the 2024-25 calendar, an increase from its 3.49 mark from last season. Additionally, eight members of the team earned representation on the honors court for their work in pursuing Business Administration degrees: Albert Fallas (3.58 cumulative GPA), Ben Pearce (3.44), Cale Martens (3.47), Isaac Snyder (3.97), Jair Knight (3.28), Johnny Coppolino IV (3.85), Logan Shanahan (3.81) and Tyson Thomas (3.42).
Earlier this year, Fallas and Shanahan were recognized as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators organization once again. That program acknowledges student-athletes that excel both athletically and academically while playing in over two-thirds of their team's games and maintaining a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
