The Emory University track and field program hosted their final outdoor meet of the 2025 season on Wednesday afternoon while also seeing four program records set.
Once again, the men's 4x100m relay team of
Sam Ryba,
Henry Brandstadter,
Caleb Bunch and
Jackson Price broke the program record with a time of 40.18 on Wednesday afternoon. Distance runners
Dawit Dean and
Scott Masterson also broke program records in the 800m and 1500m respectively. For the women, freshman
Jeanette Hydukovich tied the program record in the discus with a distance of 43.24m.
Also competing in field events for the women was freshman
Anna Jennings who finished eighth in the long jump followed by a first place finish from
Mable Mutumwa in the javelin (38.74m) and
Sarah Fineman in the shot put (13.23m). The trio of
Amaya Grant,
Caroline Hansen and
Audrey Johnson finished things up finishing third, fourth and fifth in the triple jump.
On the track, the sprinters got things started with teammates
Eva Carchidi (4
th, 11.95) and
Kaya Binetti (8
th, 12.04) taking top eight finishes in the 100m followed by a third place finish in the 400m from senior
Dashiel Tao Harris (57.24). Freshman
Jada Kenner closed the sprints with a second place finish in the 200m dash running a 24.43.
Junior
Luna McCauley made an appearance in the 800m run taking ninth with a time of 2:14.12 while senior
Liesl Scherrer closed out the distance events with a first place finish in the 5000m running a 17:03.64.
In the relays, the 4x100m group of Johnson, Carchidi, Harris and Kenner took home a first place finish with a time of 46.08.
Three different Eagles competed in field events for the men with freshman
Ari Klasky leading the way with a second place finish in the discus with a mark of 45.34m. Brandstadter followed with a fourth place finish in the long jump (6.92m) while senior
Geoff Point-du-Jour also finished fourth later in the high jump with a 1.90m mark.
Highlighting the track events for the men were Dean and Masterson who both broke program records on Wednesday. Dean took home a first place finish in the in the 800m run with a time of 1:49.12. Teammates
Spencer Watry (1:50.46),
Marcus Cheema (1:51.77) and
Ryan McGonigle (1:51.91) also competed in the event finishing in the top 10. Masterson was the lone Eagle competitor in the 1500m breaking the program record with a third place time of 3:46.25.
In the hurdles, freshman
Ben Olvey competed in the 110m hurdles event taking second with a time of 14.85. Teammates
Ethan Lu (55.54) and
Sebastian Kou (55.69) later finished sixth and seventh in the 400m hurdles respectively.
Leading the sprinters was Price who took home a second place finish in the 200m dash running a 21.12 followed by a 17
th place finish from Bunch (22.29). Earlier in the day, Ryba and teammate
Joshua Han finished 19
th and 23
rd respectively in the 100m dash. Rounding out the individual competition was graduate student
Ethan Thompson who finished fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (9:43.24)
Along with the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay group of Scherrer
Amaya Grant, Hannah Riley, and Luna McCauley also competed on Wednesday night finishing third with a time of 4:00.60.
The Eagles will travel to the Lee University Qualifier and Life University Qualifier this Saturday, May 10 before heading to the Augusta College Qualifier next week.
