Emily Kantrovitz Advances to National Semifinals in Singles

Emory University junior Emily Kantrovitz continued her dominant run through the singles draw with another convincing victory on Sunday in the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Individual Championships in Claremont, California.

Kantrovitz, the highest remaining seed in the draw, collected her third consecutive straight set win of the tournament as she bested Kenyon's Eleni Lazaridou 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals for the first time in her career. Kantrovitz will be looking for Emory's first appearance in the singles national championship since 2021 when Christina Watson last made the title match for the Eagles.

In the semifinals on Memorial Day, Kantrovitz will be going against No. 8 seeded Lindsay Eisenman from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET. In the other semifinal match, NYU's Jimena Menendez will square off against Wesleyan's Jacqueline Soloveychik, the draw's No. 5 seed.

Soloveychik earned her way to the semifinals by taking out Emory's additional national quarterfinalist, junior Izzy Antanavicius, in a three-setter Sunday afternoon. Antanavicius got off to a strong start with a 6-0 blanking in the opening set. However, Soloveychik bounced back with 6-4, 6-3 wins across the next two sets for the win.

Antanavicius had one more opportunity to reach the semifinals as she returned to the court two hours later for her doubles quarterfinal match, playing alongside classmate Iris Berman. The Emory tandem went up against the draw's No. 1 overall seed in Raman/Farhat from Middlebury and fell in two sets. Berman and Antanavicius forced an opening set tiebreaker but the Panthers claimed seven of the eight tiebreaker points to win the set. In the second set, the Eagles responded with a 3-0 start but Middlebury regrouped and rattled off six straight wins to post a winning line of 7-6 (1), 6-3.
