Two members of the Emory University men's tennis team were recognized Monday afternoon by the ITA as the organization released its year-end regional honors.

Junior Dean Kamenev was named the Atlantic South Most Improved Player of the Year and Assistant Coach Ian Melnik took home Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

After earning All-America and ITA Regional Player to Watch acclaim as a sophomore, Kamenev becomes the second straight Eagles to be selected as the ITA Atlantic South Most Improved Player. During his junior year, Kamenev racked up 11 singles wins as he went 11-7 and was 2-2 while playing at the No. 1 position. In doubles, he went 9-11 including four wins on court one.

Melnik helped the Eagles to a record of 17-7 and another berth to the national quarterfinals. Emory was ranked among the nation's best teams throughout the season including its highest ranking of No. 5 on April 23. With his added guidance on staff, the Eagles claimed third place at the UAA Championships and saw two players selected to the NCAA Individual Championships in singles as well as one doubles team.
