The Emory University track and field team finished competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon with two different program records falling.
In the 400m dash, graduate student
Eva Carchidi took home a sixth place finish in the event with a program record breaking time of 54.22. Teammates
Jada Kenner and
Amaya Grant followed with top-30 finishes taking 23
rd and 29
th respectively. Also competing on the track was freshman
Sophia Powell who led the Eagles with a 44
th place finish in the 800m running a 2:18.70.
Later in the 200m dash, senior
Audrey Johnson finished in the top 20 in the event with a time of 24.68 while teammate
Nikki Boon finished in the top 50 with her time of 25.07. Ending the individual events were rookies
Melayna Pettigrew and
Izzie Thompson in the 400m hurdles taking 41
st and 42
nd respectively.
The 4x100m relay team featuring
Dashiel Tao Harris, Carchidi, Kenner and Johnson dominated their competition taking sixth with a time of 46.12. For the men, the 4x100m relay group of
Sam Ryba, Henry Brandstadter, Caleb Bunch and
Jackson Price finished fourth in their event with a time of 40.44 to break the program record.
In the field for the Emory women were senior
Caroline Hansen (11.31m) and freshman Grant (11.18m) competing in the triple jump taking 21
st and 22
nd.
Kicking things off for the men was Brandstadter who was the lone competitor in field events. He finished 17
th in the high jump with a mark of 1.90m.
Starting things on the track were teammates
Sebastian Kou (33
rd, 55.58),
Ethan Lu (35
th, 55.74) and
Will Gossett (42
nd, 57.77) who competed in the 400m hurdles. Following them was sophomore
Theodore Drye finishing in the top 10 in the 400m dash with a time of 47.33.
The senior duo of
Dawit Dean (4
th, 1:49.32) and
Spencer Watry (19
th, 1:51.96) later competed in the 800m dash while Price took home the top time for Emory in the 200m with a sixth place, 21.20 run.
The Eagles will start to wrap up the outdoor season next weekend competing at the UAA Outdoor Championships at NYU in New York, NY beginning on Saturday, April 26.
