The Emory University track and field team competed at the annual Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia with junior
Henry Brandstadter leading the charge.
Boon continued her impressive season at the neighboring campus. She finished in fifth place amongst competitors from all divisions with a distance of 5.87m. Following Boon in field events for the women was senior
Sarah Fineman who finished 13
th in the shot put with a mark of 13.13m.
On the track was the trio of
Audrey Johnson (30
th, 12.11),
Maura Dianno (50
th, 12.22) and
Kaya Binetti (55
th, 12.31) who all competed in the 100m dash while freshman
Avery McAdams took home a 56
th place finish in the 1500m run with a time of 4:47.73.
Brandstadter wasted no time breaking an individual program record on Friday in the 100m dash. He finished sixth in the event with a program-record time of 10.48 while teammate
Caleb Bunch finished in the top 100 running an 11.24. Also competing on the track for Emory were teammates
Ben Olvey (38
th, 15.43) and
Jason Huang (47
th, 16.62) in the 110m hurdles.
Later in the 1500m, four different Eagles competed in the event with graduate student
Spencer Watry taking the top spot for Emory with a time of 3:50.66. Freshman
Carsen Valenta also finished in the top 75 with a time of 3:59.08
In the field events for the men, sophomore
Kofi Igyan was the lone competitor taking 32
nd in the long jump with a distance of 6.42m.
The Eagles will send more athletes to compete on the second day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
