The Emory University track and field teams completed their first outdoor meet of the season on Saturday afternoon with a number of Eagles breaking program records and the women's 4x200m Relay group breaking the Division III record.
The relay group of
Kaya Binetti,
Eva Carchidi,
Dashiel Tao Harris and
Audrey Johnson dominated the event taking first with a program and national record breaking time of 1:38.33. The same group also took first in the 4x100m Relay with a time of 46.81.
The 4x200m Relay group of
Caroline Hansen,
Andrea McPherson, Sydney Holden, and
Samantha Glass also posted a time under the program record finishing sixth with a time of 1:46.02. Finally, the 4x800m Relay group of
Payton Fleming,
Sophia Powell, Annabelle Tanner and
Davis Johnson took home the top spot running a 9:35.26.
In the individual events, senior
Maura Dianno got things started in the 100m qualifiers running a 12.66 in the event for a 19
th place finish. Following her with top-20 finishes were freshman
Arden Gray (11:02.43) and sophomore
Emma Flowers (11:34.69) who took 13
th and 17
th respectively in the 3000m Run.
Sophomore
Morgan Cox (5:15.31, 1500m) and freshman
Melayna Pettigrew (15.59, 100m Hurdles) both took seventh in their respective events while junior
Payton Sullivan finished the 800m run with a time of 2:22.81 for an 11
th place finish. Rounding out the running events was senior
Samantha Glass who finished 21
st in the 400m Dash followed by freshman
Sophia Deeney taking 23
rd.
On the field, freshman
Jeanette Hydukovich had the best finish for the Eagles taking third in the discus with a distance of 40.03m. She later finished 10
th in the shot put with a mark of 11.89m. Also taking a top-10 finish in the shot put was senior
Sarah Fineman who took fourth throwing a 12.52m distance.
For the jumpers, teammates
Erin Makhanian and
Hannah Riley both finished in the top 10 in the pole vault while freshman
Anna Jennings and Hansen both finished in the top 15 in the long jump.
On the men's side, the 4x200m Relay group of
Sam Ryba, Henry Brandstadter, Caleb Bunch and
Jackson Price broke the program record with a first place, 1:26.96 time. Also taking first in the 4x100m Relay was Ryba, Brandstadter, Price and freshman
Joshua Han with a time of 41.18.
Han kicked off the individual events with a 12
th place finish in the 100m qualifiers running an 11.03 in the event. Sophomore
Kirin Karver followed in the 3000m Run taking sixth with a time of 8:41.30. Freshman
Carsen Valenta opened his first outdoor event with a bang finishing second in the 1500m Open running a 4:01.98.
Also taking a spot in the top three was freshman
Ryan McGonigle (1:53.68) in the 800m Run and sophomore
Theodore Drye (48.34) in the 400m Run. Junior
Jason Huang finished the track events with a top-25 finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.95.
In the field, freshman
Ari Klasky wasted no time returning to his impressive rookie season taking fourth in the shot put with a program record breaking mark of 15.02m. Brandstadter also competed in on the field taking the top spot in the long jump with a distance of 7.30m.
Teammates
Steven Ditelberg and
Evan Tuckley finished the day finishing 11
th and 16
th respectively in the pole vault.
The Eagles will return to the Woodruff P.E. Center track on Thursday, March 27 to begin the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet in Atlanta, Georgia.
