The Emory University track and field program closed competition at the Camel City Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Winston Salem, North Carolina with another impressive day of events.
The distance runners were on show on the second day of competition with junior
Madison Tiaffay starting things off with a fifth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:17.38. Competition was really close with freshman
Rowan Miller finishing right behind running a 2:17.71 for an eighth place finish. Next up was the 1000m run with sophomore
Payton Fleming leading the pack with a time of 2:59.61. Freshman
Sophia Powell also competed in the event finishing fifth with a 3:04.96 time.
Senior
Liesl Scherrer (5:07.64, 9
th) and Tiaffay (5:09.42, 14
th) both took home top-15 finishes in the mile run while freshman
Arden Gray finished the distance competition with a time of 11:10.63 in the 3000m run.
Graduate student
Nikki Boon saw time in two field events on Saturday for the Eagles finishing seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.45m, the 57
th best mark in Division III this season. She later took home an eighth place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.50m. Teammate
Amaya Grant followed later with a fourth place finish in the triple jump with an 11.19m mark, the 38
th best in DIII followed by a 12
th place, 10.58m finish from senior

Four Emory men saw top-15 finishes in field events with junior
Henry Brandstadter (1.86m) and senior
Geoff Point-du-Jour (1.81m) taking seventh and ninth in the high jump respectively. The rookie duo of
Ohene Dah (12.81m) and
Ryan Coleman (12.47m) finished 11
th and 15
th respectively in the triple jump.
On the track, the Eagles competed in three distance events with the 800m run kicking things off. Senior
Dawit Dean led the pack with a time of 1:54.67 followed by a fifth place finish from freshman
Ryan McGonigle (1:56.12). Seniors
Spencer Watry (1:57.02) and
Ben Zamler (1:59.48) also took home top-15 finishes in the event.
Graduate student
Scott Masterson kicked things off in the mile event taking second with a 4:13.52 mark followed by a seventh place finish from freshman
Dalton Lowery running a 4:20.05. Teammate
Jonathan Orelowitz also finished in the top-15 runners taking 12
th with a time of 4:25.33. Graduate student
Ethan Thompson rounded out the competition with a 14
th place finish in the 3000m running an 8:36.50.
Next weekend, the Eagles will travel to the Bulldog Invitational and Open in Birmingham, Alabama and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, February 14.
