The Emory University men's track and field program took home a first place finish at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Mount Laurel, Tennessee. The men finished first of nine teams with 158 points.
Scoring the first points in sprints was sophomore
Sebastian Kou (8.12) and junior
Jason Huang (8.14) who finished third and fourth in the 55m hurdles finals. Senior
Jackson Price took home a second place finish in the 55m dash running a 6.51 in the finals. He later scored more points in the 200m dash with a second place, 23.10 run. Teammate
Joshua Han followed with a first place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 53.42 to finish the sprints.
In the distance events, sophomore
Andrew Burchett took home a first place finish in the 800m run after running a 2:04.68. Teammate
Turner Goestch followed behind in the event running a 2:05.66 for a second place finish. Three Eagles scores points in the 3000m run with junior
Matthew McClure taking the top spot with a time of 9:10.23. Freshman
Carsen Valenta (9:12.56) and
Lucas Moskovitz (9:16.54) finished second and fourth in the event.
The final running event came from the 4x400m relay group of Huang, Han, Kou and Burchett who took first running a 3:34.37.
Freshman
Ari Klasky continued his impressive rookie season finishing second in the weight throw with a distance of 14.80m while teammate
Tyler Edwards also scored points with his distance of 12.18m. The duo also competed in the shot put taking first and sixth respectively while sophomore
Rohan Vasandani took home fourth with a distance of 11.92m.
Freshman
Ryan Coleman started the jump events for the Eagles with a second place, 13.30m mark in the triple jump. Teammates
Kevin Zhong (2.00m, 2
nd) and
Henry Brandstadter (1.90m, 4
th) later competed in the high jump while sophomore
Evan Tuckley finished things out with a seventh place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.75m.
Next up, the Eagles will travel to Chicago, Illinois to compete at the UAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2.
