The Emory University indoor track and field team traveled to two meets on Saturday afternoon with the throwers heading to Tennessee and two distance runners traveling to Massachusetts.
Graduate student Brigid Hanley led the Eagles competing against Division I competitors at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener in Boston. She ran a 16:25.03 in the 5000m run to break the school record and now ranks 7th all-time in Division III history. Senior Liesl Scherrer also competed in the event finishing with a time of 17:20.18.
A number of Eagles competed at the Mountain Goat Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee in throwing events with freshman Abigail Roberts leading the way with a third place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 12.46m. Also taking points in the event was senior Kylie Hanson (11.19m), freshman Janelle Bobb (10.98m), senior Alexa Kondas (10.47m) and sophomore Mable Mutumwa (10.30m).
Senior Sarah Fineman took home a first place finish in shot put with a distance of 12.35m while freshman Jeanette Hydukovich finished third with a 10.42m mark. Bobb (9.58m) and freshman Sarah Watson (9.29m) also scored points for the Eagles in the event.
On the men's side, freshman Ari Klasky earned his first win with Emory taking first place in the weight throw with a 14.09m mark. He also finished first in shot put throwing a 14.45m distance.
Teammates Riley Schwimmer (11.16m) and Alex Osterman (11.14m) both took top-eight finishes in the weight throw while sophomore Rohan Vasandani scored points for Emory placing sixth in the shot put with a distance of 12.14m.
The Eagles will take a break for the semester before returning to the track for the Sanford Invitational and Open on January 17, 2025.
