The Emory University women's swimming & diving team opened the Emory Fall Invitational with dazzling times and one school record on day one of the competition. Through one session, the Eagles lead the field of five schools with 394 points.
Emory took first place in all eight swimming events contested on Friday and saw a total of 18 NCAA B Cuts turned in.
 Freshman Allison Greeneway continues to produce at a high level, recording a pair of NCAA qualifying marks and established a new program record in the 200 IM with her time of 2:01.23 – breaking the previous record of 2:01.81 that held for over seven years. Greeneway added an additional NCAA B Cut with her third place effort in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.59) and was part of both winning relays teams in the 200 Freestyle and 400 Medley.
The evening opened with Greeneway, freshmen Caitlin Crysel and Louisa Wendt and junior Penny Celtnieks putting forth a winning time of 1:33.44 in the 200 Freestyle before the night ended with the group of Greeneway, Wendt, graduate student Megan Jungers and sophomore Katie Cohen posting a winning time of 3:42.50 in the 400 Medley. The Eagles saw two relays record NCAA B Cut times in both events.
Adding winning times for the Eagles was junior Meredith Liu in the 500 Freestyle (4:57.28), Cohen in the 100 Breaststroke (1:02.67), Jungers in the 200 Backstroke (2:01.18), Wendt in the 100 Freestyle (51.00) and freshman Elodie Mitchell in the 200 Fly (2:01.35). All five of these marks came in under the NCAA qualifying standard.
The Eagles took the first and second spots in six different swimming events on Friday with Crysel placing second in both the 200 IM at 2:04.15 and 100 Breaststroke (1:03.27) as did graduate student Penelope Helm in the 500 Freestyle (4:58.08), junior Jane Sanderson in the 200 Backstroke (2:02.91) and senior Sarah Daly in the 200 Fly (2:03.54).
Senior Ariana Khan added a second place finish in the 1-meter as she was Emory's top diver on day one with a score of 265.75.
The Emory Fall Invitational will conclude on Saturday with session two getting underway at 11:00 AM at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
