Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw with Covenant in Home Opener

The Emory University men's soccer team finished their season opener in a tie against the Covenant Scots on the first day of the Sonny Carter Invitational on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.  

The two teams combined for 16 shots in the defensive battle with 13 of those coming from the Eagles. Senior Joe Beare and junior Ryan Hayes led the team with a combined five shots, three coming in the second half of the competition.

Emory had a number of close opportunities during the match, including two off the post in the first half from senior Jake Atallah in the 24th minute and freshman Turner MacInnis in the 43rd minute. Senior Peter Wagner started his last campaign with a shutout, totaling three saves.

The Eagles will face Washington and Lee on Saturday evening at 5 pm for the conclusion of the Sonny Carter Invitational.
