Emory Men's Tennis Rolls By Millsaps

The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team came through with an impressive Friday afternoon win over Millsaps College.  The Eagles upped their spring record to 6-3 following a 9-0 over the Majors who saw their eight-match win streak come to an end while seeing their overall slate drop to 14-4.

Emory, which did not drop a set in the match, took firm control of the contest early on, racing to a 3-0 edge after doubles.  The No. 2 team of sophomore Adrien Bouchet and junior Max Renke boosted their dual mark to 8-1 (5-1 at No. 2) after coming away with an 8-2 outcome over Diego Marti-Vertiz and Brandon Beck. At third doubles, junior David Omsky and sophomore Jonathan Jemison won for the sixth time in nine outings (4-2 at No. 3), notching an 8-4 verdict vs. Henry Friedler and Jacob Niehaus. Senior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding rounded out the sweep, battling to an 8-5 triumph over Alex Centurion and Davis Plummber at No. 1.

In singles, Jemison saw his spring record improve to 7-2 after breezing to a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Centurion at the No. 2 spot. Senior Aman Manji registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Vertiz at No. 1, his sixth in nine decisions, while Bouchet won for the fifth time in seven ties at No. 3 with a 6-1, 7-6, outcome against Friedler. Spaulding at No. 4, junior Alex Josepher at No. 5 and senior Josh Goodman at No. 6 were other singles winners.

Emory returns to action on Saturday (Mar. 18) when it battles No. 15 Amherst College (10-0) in a 1:00 pm scheduled start.
