Box Score 2 The Emory softball team came through with a pair of Sunday wins to close out a 4-0 weekend at the Lauren Giddings Classic that was co-hosted by the Eagles and Agnes Scott College. No. 16 Emory opened Sunday with an 8-1 triumph over No. 23 DePauw before registering a dramatic come-from-behind 7-6 triumph over Randolph College. The Eagles are now 10-0 on the season.

Emory 7, Randolph 6 – Facing a 6-2 deficit heading into the bottom of the sixth, Emory scores five runs over the final two frames to come away with the win … Sophomore Amy Wray's first career homer, a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth brings Emory to within a 6-4 count … The Eagles knot the score the following inning when Alyssa Pollard leads off with a double a then scores when Micah Scharff delivers a two-run homer, her first of the season … Junior Hannah Sendel then triples to center and crosses the plate with the deciding score via a single by freshman Ashley Powers … Sophomore hurler Brittany Files gets the win, her sixth of the year in as many decisions, after going 1 1/3 innings in a relief capacity.
Emory 8, DePauw 1 – Hannah Sendel goes 2-for-3 at the plate with 6 RBIs to lead the Eagles' offensive attack … Emory scores twice in the bottom of the first when Sendel strokes a two-run double that scores Alyssa Pollard and Micah Scharff … The following frame, Sendel socks a grand slam that highlights a five-run uprising that gives Emory a 7-0 cushion … Scharff accounts for Emory's other two RBIs, including a run-producing double in the bottom of the fifth that closes out the game's scoring … Files tosses a complete game in notching the win, allowing just two hits and striking out five.

Emory 8, Adrian 5 – Freshman first baseman Ashley Powers collects two safeties in three at-bats including a grand slam, her third round tripper of the season, in the bottom of the second that caps a seven-run inning, erasing a 1-0 deficit … Sophomore left fielder Taylor Forte hits safely in all three plate appearances and drives in a run with a double in the bottom of the fifth that gives the Eagles an 8-2 lead.
Emory 6, Thomas More 1 – Brittany File allows just one hit over six innings, striking out nine in the process … Hannah Sendel gets Emory out of the blocks early with a two-run double in the bottom of the first that keys a four-run frame … Sophomores Amy Wray and Tara Fallahee record run-producing singles in the first inning as well … Sendel closes out a four-RBI contest with a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth that scores Alyssa Pollard and Micah Scharff with their second runs scored of the contest … Emory collects 10 hits with Wray and Fallahee picking up two hits each.
Emory ventures to Altamonte Springs for the University Athletic Association Championships, Mar. 10-15. The Eagles will play New York University (10:00 am) and Case Western Reserve (1:00 pm) on Tuesday.
