Box Score 2 Emory sophomore Hannah Sendel had a day to remember as she helped the Eagles' softball remain undefeated following wins over Agnes Scott College and Spalding University. Emory opened the day with an 8-0 win in five innings over Agnes Scott before registering a 7-6 decision over Spalding in its final contest. The Eagles are 18-0 on the year.
Sendel completed the day going 7-for-7 at the plate with seven RBIs. Three of her hits were of the extra-base variety with two doubles and one homer. In the opener against ASC, Sendel singled in Emory's first run with a single that scored senior Ally Kersthold. She then socked a solo homer, Emory's final score in a four-run third that stretched the Eagles' lead to 5-0. In the fourth frame, her three-run double closed out the team's scoring and made a winner of senior pitcher Amanda Kardys who tossed all five innings, allowing three hits and striking out three. Senior first baseman Megan Light came through with a big blow as well, propelling a three-run homer, her fourth round tripper of the year.
Sendel continued her hot-hitting ways, going 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs vs. Spalding. Her final RBI, a two-out double in the bottom of the sixth staked the Eagles to a 7-3 lead. Kardys, who notched the win in relief, held off a late charge by Spalding in the top of the seventh that saw the visitors push across three runs and load the bases. Kersthold came through with a three-run double in the second that put ahead Emory ahead by a 4-0 count.
