The No. 7-ranked Emory men's tennis team captured its third straight win on Friday afternoon, defeating No. 8 Case Western Reserve at Woodruff PE Center. The Eagles boosted their spring record to 10-4 following a 5-1 decision over the Spartans who slipped to 9-4.
With inclement weather forcing the match indoors and the teams playing to decision, the Eagles held a 2-1 edge after the doubles portion of the contest. The Eagles' No. 2 senior tandem of Jackson Isaacs and Ayush Bajoria picked up the first point of the match with an 8-1 verdict over Will Drougas and James Fojtasek. After CWRU knotted the score following a win at No. 3 doubles, Emory took the lead for good when juniors Alex Ruderman and Ian Wagner battled to a 9-8 victory against Christopher Krimbill and Louis Stuerke at the No. 1 spot, their fifth win in seven decisions this spring.
Sophomore Rafe Mosetick extended the Eagles' advantage to 3-1 after coming away with a 6-2, 6-0, triumph against Fojtasek at No. 3 singles, while Wagner's 7-5, 6-3, win over Derek Reinbold at No. 4 put the squad just one point from clinching the outcome. Ruderman sealed the win at first singles with his 7-5, 7-5, outcome against Krimbill raising his spring won-lost ledger to 12-2.
Emory returns to action on Saturday (Mar. 29) when it entertains No. 9 Kenyon College in a scheduled 1:00 pm start.
