Box Score The Emory volleyball team nailed down its 10th straight win Wednesday evening, coming away with a well-deserved outcome on the road at Lee University. The Eagles and Flames waged a spirited battle with Emory prevailing, 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23), and raising its record to 22-2 while Lee slipped to 6-9.
Taking a break from D-III action, Emory closed out the match hitting .241 (54-19—145) compared to Lee's effort of .216 (53-20—153), the 23rd time this year that the Eagles had outhit their opposition. Emory spread out its offensive attack with the sophomore duo of Kathryn Trinka and Sarar Maher tying for match honors with 12 terminations each. Trinka recorded a .417 attack percentage (12-2—24), her top mark of the season, while Maher was solid with a .308 effort (12-4—26). Senior Leah Jacobs pounded out 11 successful attack attempts, her fifth straight outing of double figures, while classmate Cat McGrath chipped in 10 kills en route to posting a .500 hitting performance (10-0—20). Senior libero Kate Bowman paced the team with 18 digs and helped the Eagles to a 63-58 advantage in that category. Junior setter Sydney Miles turned in a solid all-around match with 39 assists and eight digs.
The Eagles return to action on Oct. 14 when they travel to the campus of Birmingham Southern for matches against Huntingdon College and the Panthers of BSC.
