Emory freshman Alex Greven scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the second half and the Eagles rallied from 10-point deficit midway through the second half by closing out the game with a furious 32-9 run in earning a road win at No. 15 Brandeis Sunday afternoon.  Emory captured its fifth straight win and boosted its overall record to 12-4, 4-1 in the University Athletic Association, good for a first-place tie, following a 77-64 win over the Judges who slipped to 12-3 overall, 3-2 in the league.

Greven finished the game hitting four-of-seven from the floor, including three-of-four from three-point range, and five-of-six free throw attempts in registering his ninth double-figure scoring effort of the year.  Greven's offensive exploits off the bench helped the Eagles post a decisive 37-10 edge in reserve points.  Sophomore guard Austin Claunch rounded out the team's double-figure scorers with 11 points while doling out five assists. Seniors Anthony Fernandez, Chad Hixon and Daniel Curtin all added nine points with Hixon grabbing a team-high nine boards.

Emory held a 38-30 lead early in the second half before Brandeis fought back with a 14-4 run, capped by a basket by Andre Roberson, that gave it a 44-42 advantage.  After a three-point field goal by Alex Gulotta enabled Emory to re-claim the lead, the Judges scored the game's next 11 points to post a 55-45 cushion with just over 10 minutes left in the game.  From there, Emory took control of the contest.  A jumper by Curtin with 4:36 left closed out a 13-3 Eagles' scoring run and knotted the affair at 58-58.  With the scored tied at 60-60, Greven nailed back-to-back three-point field goals that started a 10-0 streak that pushed the score to 70-60 in Emory's favor.  After four straight points by the Judges cut their deficit to six points with 1:25 left, the Eagles finished the afternoon by sinking seven-of-eight from the foul line, sealing the outcome of the game.

Emory ended the afternoon shooting 44.4 percent from the floor (24-of-54) compared to Brandeis' effort of 38.6 percent (22-of-57).  The Eagles hit six-of-16 from beyond the arc while Brandies made just one-of-17 from distance.

Down by a 19-16 margin just past the midway point in the first half, the Eagles rattled off a 9-0 run, with four different players scoring, which gave them a 25-19 edge with 6:50 left in the stanza.  After a pair of free throws by the Judges'Terrell Hollins drew Brandeis to within 26-24, Emory responded with a 7-0 run, sparked by five points by Claunch that upped its margin to 33-24 with 2:52 left. The Eagles would go into the locker room at halftime the owners of a 36-30 lead with Hixon scoring seven points and Claunch, Julien Williams and Fernandez chipping in five points.  Emory connected on 48.3 percent from the floor during the opening 20 minutes of play compared to 37.9 percent (11-of-29).  The Eagles knocked down three three-point field goals while Brandeis misfired on all nine of its opportunities.
