Emory University junior Ethan Fauss was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team selection Tuesday afternoon as announced by the organization via press release.
Fauss became the first men's basketball player to be chosen as an Academic All-American since Matthew Schner in 2022 and is just the sixth player in team history to be selected for the honor. With Fass' selection, Emory Athletics now has seen 249 Academic All-Americans in its history.
The junior forward had a stellar third season with the Eagles, helping the team advance to the national championship game for the first time in school history. In 27 games, Fauss averaged 15.0 points per game to go along with a team-leading 8.6 rebounds per game. He added a team-high 53 blocks while collecting 63 assists and 42 steals.
The All-University Athletic Association Second Team honoree had 13 or more games with double-digit points including a team-leading 10 double-doubles. Fauss stepped up his game during the NCAA tournament as well as he averaged 15.5 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 2.8 assists, 1.6 blocks and 2.2 steals across the six postseason contests. The forward also knocked down over 3.0 three-pointers during the NCAA run including the game-winning triple with under 10 seconds left in overtime to lead Emory past Roanoke in the second round.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches. They also must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). First-year athletes are ineligible for the award. All players nominated earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District and then proceed to be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America voting.
