The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team defeated Kenyon College
in quarterfinal round action of the NCAA Division III Championships
Tuesday afternoon in Claremont, California. The Eagles raised
their overall record to 20-3 following a 5-0 verdict over the No.
7-ranked Lords who closed out their year with a 21-8 mark.
Emory bolted to a 3-0 lead following doubles action. Senior
Mark Boren then gave the Eagles a 4-0 bulge following his
impressive 6-1, 6-4 decision over Jeremy Polster at No. 3 singles,
raising his dual record to 20-2. Freshman Chris Goodwin
provided Emory with the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-2 decision
against Tomas Piskacek at No. 2 singles.
Emory advances to the semifinals where it will battle either
UC-Santa Cruz or Williams College on Wednesday starting at 4:00
p.m. (EDT).
