The Emory University swimming & diving teams opened their 2026-27 seasons on Saturday by heading crosstown for dual meet action at Georgia Tech. The Eagles combined for three event wins during the meet while the Yellow Jackets swept the afternoon.
All three victories came from the women's side of the meet with newcomer Aubrey Mitchell taking the top spot in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:05.15 to spotlight her Eagles' debut while junior Caitlin Crysel notched a win in the 50 Freestyle at 24.40, narrowly edging out teammate Natalie Boorjian by .10 seconds, and senior Emma Lunn picked up where she left off with another win in the 200 Backstroke as she touched in a time of 2:07.10.
The Eagles added individual second place showings from freshman Rebecca Fury in the 100 Freestyle (52.68) and senior Meredith Teague in the 500 Freestyle (5:14.36) while third place efforts were turned in from Lunn in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.93), Maddy Lu in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.51) and 200 Breaststroke (2:26.34), and Mitchell in the 100 Fly at 57.95.
For the men's side of the meet, junior Solly Berkenwald highlighted the divers with top finishes in both disciplines as he scored 296.03 on the 1-meter and 278.55 on the 3-meter. Between the lanes, newcomer Douglas Sims was a top finisher for the Emory caps as he placed second in the 500 Freestyle (4:41.81) and registered one of the team's nine third place finishes as he touched at 1:42.11 in the 200 Freestyle.
Adding third place performances for the Eagles were freshman Vincent Gookin in the 1000 Freestyle (9:59.60), Colin Zexter in the 100 Back (51.61), Owen Howell in the 100 Breaststroke (58.09), Carson Kalish in both the 200 Fly (1:52.37) and 100 Fly (49.80), Hayden Tupper in both the 50 Free (21.01) and 100 Free (46.74) as well as Ryan Schnur in the 200 Breast (2:09.62).
Furthermore, the Eagles had three second place finishes across their four relay events.
Emory swimmers will be back in the pool on October 10th for a meet against Queens University of Charlotte while the divers head to Moultrie for training camp that same weekend.
