Emory volleyball split the first day of the Mount Berry Invitational hosted by Berry College on Saturday afternoon. In match one the Eagles defeated Randolph-Macon 3-0. In match two the eagles fell to No. 9 Berry, 2-1.
It was smooth sailing against Randolph-Macon, winning in three sets, (25-16), (25-20) and (25-17).
As a team the Eagles hit .255, with 39 kills, five service aces and four blocks.
Ella Moore led the way with eight kills followed by
Gabija Staniskis with six and
Maria Flynn with five.
Jillian Massenat added in three service aces and 14 digs.
Match two was a much tougher battle for Emory going up against tournament hosts and number nine ranked Berry.
The Eagles were able to take the third set 25-21 but eventually lost in four.
Maeve Stevenson put down 12 kills and hit .632 with a solo block. Freshman
Kennedi White added seven kills and two service aces and Staniskis put down six kills on the day.
Emory will play their final match of the Invitational on Saturday morning at 11am against Transylvania.
